Flagyl ER (Metronidazole)

Flagyl ER - is an antibacterial antibiotic, which is used at treatment of bacteriemic infection of a vagina, a stomach, a skin, and the respiratory tracts caused by anaerobic bacteria kind of Peptostreptococcus, Clostridium sp., Bacteroides sp., Prevotella, Fusobacterium, Veillonella and certain parasites such as Trichomonas vaginalis (vaginitis), Giardia intestinalis (lambliosis of bowels and liver), Entamoeba histolytica.

Use Flagyl ER according to prescriptions of your doctor. Before using of the medicine read the instruction for definition of the exact dosage.

Flagyl is taken orally in 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal on an empty stomach.

For terminal treatment it is necessary to take full of course of treatment with Flagyl ER. It is recommended to continue to take a medicine even if you will feel better in some days.

Flagyl ER possesses antiprotozoal and antibacterial action. Drug action is based on destruction of cellular walls of bacteria that leads to their dying.

If you missed a dose take it as soon as you remember. If it almost time of your next dose just skip it and return to your regular schedule. Never take more than 1 dose of this medication.

Store Flagyl ER at ambient temperature, in protected from a moisture and light place, away from children.

Do not use Flagyl ER if you have:

• Hypersensitivity to the medicine components, a leukopenia (including in the anamnesis), organic lesions of a CNS (including an epilepsy), hepatic insufficiency (in case of appointment of the big doses), pregnancy (I trimester), the lactemia season. With caution: pregnancy (II-III trimesters), renal/hepatic insufficiency.

• Barbiturates (for example, phenobarbital) or Phenytoinum because they can reduce efficacy ER Flagyl
• Anticoagulative agents (for example, warfarin), busulfan, ergot alkaloids (for example, ergotamine), inhibitors of a protease of the HIV, containing alcohol (for example, amprenavir the decision), lithium, or immunodepressants (for example, tacrolimus) because the risk of their side effects can be increased by Flagyl ER
• Disulfiram because there can be some side effects (mental or mood changes)
• Oral contraceptives (for example, contraceptive tablets) because their efficacy can be reduced by Flagyl ER.

From the alimentary system can be observed: a diarrhoeia, appetite depression, a nausea, vomiting, constipations, "metal" smack in a mouth, dryness in a mouth, a glossitis, a stomatitis, a pancreatitis. From the nervous system: giddiness, hypotaxia of movements, confusion, irritability, depression, hypererethism, weekness, a sleeplessness, a headache, hallucinations, a peripheric neuropathy. Allergic responses: an urticaria, a dermal eruption, a dermahemia, заложенность a nose, a fever, arthralgias. From urinary systems a dysuria, a cystitis, a polyuria, an urine incontience, a candidiasis, an urine staining in red-brown colour. Local reactions: a thrombophlebitis (a pain, a hyperemia or puffiness in an injection place).

In case of appearance specified above side effects urgently revert to the doctor.
